Going Live

by Paul on November 5, 2008

At Loyola Press, we have been planning our new website and community features for what seems like forever but, in reality, has only been about a year.  Today our new website and this blog are revealed to the world and I am nervously standing by to see how you will react to the experience.

There will, of course, be ‘bugs’ that we’ll need to fix, but we have already wrestled many flaws to the ground and defeated them.  We are standing by, ready to work on any issues that emerge.  Don’t hesitate to contact us with any concerns you may have.

Preparing the new www.loyolapress.com has given me insight into just how many people it takes to bring a fairly complex site like ours to life.  We worked with a design team in Chicago and we had programmers writing code both here, in India and in Germany.  Our Technology Services team has been working lots of extra hours for several months and I want to acknowledge their dedication and hard work. I hope and pray that our efforts pay off for you and that Loyola Press comes closer to meeting your needs and desires.  As a Jesuit Ministry, we want everything we do to be Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam – For the Greater Glory of God.

It seems the long hours and attention to detail has paid off! The site looks fantastic and I expect it will serve many well in their spiritual journey.

Hooray for St. Ignatius who must surely be applauding the effort to go to where the people are!

Karen,

Thanks for weighing in! I agree that the site looks fantastic but I can take absolutely no credit for that — our fantastic web team did it all.

As for St. Ignatius applauding the effort, I can only hope you’re right.

Paul, definitely the site is easy to navigate–though I did have trouble finding you. The Glimpse of Grace and Daily Inspiration are wonderful. I have already linked my catechists to the site; many already are subscribers to the 3-Minute Retreat. Blessings on this new endeavor!

Wow,
I love this website! It is very easy to use and I stumbled upon it looking for creation ideas for my 1st grade classes. I had a hard time finding ideas online unless you bought them. We usually have workbooks but this year we have to go without them. We are in transition and clustering and selling our two churches and building a new one. We are still looking for land and have sold one church and the other is still for sale.

It takes a lot of faith to get a parish through such big changes. We have some wonderful people that are making it work. Thank you for your website and pray for the children and their parents while we go through this transition.

Kelly,

Thank you for your kind and encouraging words. You don’t know how much they mean to us.

Your parish is going through a lot of challenges and changes and, as you say, it takes a lot of faith. I promise that I will pray for you and all the others at Our Lady of the Angels.

Michele,

I’ve not yet figured out to leave a comment so that it slots in directly under your message, so I’m sorry for being out of whack.

Thanks to you, too, for your good wishes. I’m thrilled to hear that you have told your catechists about the new website. I only hope that other catechetical leaders will be inspired by you!

You offer us blessings and for that I am not only grateful but am eager to return the favor!

Hi Paul,

I want to thank you for this wonderful “People For Others” website. I
just finished your 3-minute Retreat and the music and words brought me
peace. Sometimes, in our busy world, we have to make time to stop life for
at least a few 3-minute retreats.
I found your website at Catechist Journey – Joe P. Joe’s website has
given me many good ideas for my fourth grade students.

Thank you for sharing,

Kate

Kate,

How kind of you to let us know that you like the site! Isn’t the 3-Minute Retreat great? It never fails to inspire me or, at the least, to help me climb back down from the ledge…

I will pass on your praise to Joe for The Catechist’s Journey. He will be thrilled to know that he has been helpful.

Paul
