Few things get done at breakneck pace at Loyola Press. As a publishing house whose books and other resources stay with the public for a long, long time, we are very careful and measured about what we let out into the world. When Vinita Hampton Wright showed us her latest Glimpses of Grace, however, several of us decided that it needed to be on our website immediately. It is called, Presence in the Midst of Crisis and, quite simply, it moved me to tears. If you haven’t read it yet, I strongly urge you to do so.
Vinita writes from her own vulnerability and her deep faith and authenticity leap off the page. I can’t imagine that any of us are without financial cares and worries this Christmas and Vinita gets right down to the heart of the matter and puts things into a healthy Christian perspective.
I am thrilled that Vinita works with us at Loyola Press. The authors of the books she edits rave about her, her own nonfiction books and novels (the latest of which is Dwelling Places) are highly-acclaimed, and she is a great workshop facilitator. Most importantly, from this blog’s point of view, she has profound insights into finding God in all things. She has written several of our Glimpses of Grace and will publish Days of Deepening Friendship with us early in 2009. Days of Deepening Friendship is an Ignatian-inspired journey for women. I assure you that it will be well worth starting out with her on this pilgrimage of grace.
