The Examen [Examination of Consciousness] is a core prayer for Jesuits and for those who follow Ignatian Spirituality. Ignatius told his Scholastics [seminarians] that if they got very busy they could skip various spiritual practices, but the one thing they were to hold on to was the Examen.
St. Ignatius College Prep. in San Francisco, CA has had a big push to make the Examen a communal practice and some students and staff prepared videos to help explain the practice. Here is a trailer they made to introduce the prayer to the school.

I absolutely loved this video. What a great way to make the Examen practical and applicable to everyone.

Hey Mark,
Can you help me in understanding how to do the journaling after the examen. I heard that it is good practice to do so. But I don’t know what to write there. Is it done after or during the examen.
Thanks in advance.
