Compass Points – 2

Compass Points.inddCompass Points – Meeting God Every Day At Every Turn, Margaret Silf’s wonderful new book was introduced to you a while back.  Today I want to share Compass Point #37:

It has been said that rules are needed by those who have lost their inner balance, and also by those who have not yet discovered it.

I wonder where we as the human race lie along this spectrum.  Have we lost a wisdom we once possessed? Or have we not yet discovered it?

Does Jesus save us from the follies of the past, or does he lead and guide us toward a fullness of wisdom and love that still lies beyond us?

Are we offenders who need correction, or infants who need to be nurtured into maturity.

I think I’m a bit of both. What about you?

From time to time we all lose what is called inner balance. Since this is the true reality of human nature, we all need some rules to cling too. Yet when rules become filled with “force” they lose some perpective for which they were developed . We often time do not know what the “rules” are and so we discover them hopefully with Gods Grace.

My belief is that Jesus “saves” us from the follies if we allow him too by surrenduring them daily if needed to his Care often times seeking His Comfort.

Offering us 7 Fruits and 7Gifts the Holy Spirit works within us daily in or out of balance . One of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit is Wisdom. It sometimes is the harsh reality that as the Spirit moves it is not seen it comes and goes and is often like the wind of the earths air. Thus sometimes this is what seems to be human wisdom .

As we grow within the Loving Lords arms young and old alike we are to be nurtured in his love. If we offend the Lord we have offended the Spirit that dwells within us . But if we are to be real human beings this just , is. If we acknowledge that we have offended the Lord and his \ our Spirit we are also with hope encouraged to grow deeper within Love and Wisdom.

Nita,

Welcome to People For Others. Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I love the idea that we are all encouraged to “grow deeper within Love and Wisdom.”

The best teachers are the life-long learners who’ve remembered what it’s like to ask the profound, child-like questions… Margaret is one of these young-old souls, both in her writing and in her presence (i had the pleasure of being with her on an eight day retreat @ Bethany a few years ago…) and we are blessed in the accompanying…
Peace and Balance,
Carol
