This is my favorite painting in the whole world – Joseph Mallord Turner’s Mortlake Terrace, Early Summer Morning. I can’t really explain to you why it appeals to me so much – something about the serenity, the order, the brightness and the beauty of it all. God is very present to me in this painting.
I approached the Frick Collection in NYC where it hangs and asked if I might copy their link, but the nice lady demurred. If you want to see the picture clearly, you will need to click here. While on the Frick Collection site, you might also want to see the Holbein portrait of St. Thomas More, the favorite of regular correspondent, Eric. Enjoy.
