It is a beautifully sunny morning here in Chicago. I left for work rejoicing in the birdsong, budding branches and the golden glow that was bathing everything in wondrous light. [Readers from more temperate parts will have to forgive those of us who live half of the year on frozen tundra for waxing lyrical in Spring.]
In the car, the radio came on automatically and I found myself listening to an interview about “harsh interrogation techniques” and/or torture and about how many times the U.S. water-boarded prisoners, or put them in stress positions, etc.
I have no desire to be political in this blog, but I do want to express my anger and disappointment at how we as a nation have reacted to 9-11. It seems to me that we lost a lot more than the Twin Towers and the lives that were sacrificed that day.
Not very pleasant thoughts to be confronted with on such a beautiful day.
