Here are the 5 things for I am most grateful to God this morning:
- A cool and restful night’s sleep which has left me refreshed and ready to go
- Waking up a little early so that I had plenty of time and didn’t need to rush
- Listening to the birds singing in the trees outside my window
- A delicious banana & yogut breakfast
- Meaningful work to go to each morning.
What things are you most grateful for this morning?

Things I am grateful for today:
The beautiful flowers in clay pots that greet me on my front & back steps. Happy comings & goings.
The Mocking Bird and his buddy who just won’t quit in the morning. We get lots of laughs from them.
Some rock & roll this morning. Classic, of course; Stones & Beatles (ok, a little U2 thrown in the mix).
The sun is shining after a whole June full of rain!!!
Two special co-workers who have already made my day.
Oh, and I think “People for Others”, too.

In no order…
0. The reminder to do this!
1. The leaves rustling outside my study window as I write.
2. Praying the office outside with my cup of tea.
3. The chocolate chip cookies the teens are baking in my kitchen.
4. The abundance of raspberries in my garden.
5. Five hundred words written this morning…
and God in all things.

3. The delicious banana bread made by my daughter.
4. The braces on my legs that help me walk so much more easily.

Dear “5 Things” Commenters,
Thank you for sharing your lists. It helped me to remember to thank God for the things you included that I hadn’t even thought about. Michelle’s final remark: “and God in all things.” is a good reminder to be always conscious of finding ways to see God at work in our daily lives.

1. Driving West on Interstate 40 through Jefferson County, Tennesssee, I look at the horizon and see a brilliant light of yellow gold in the winter sunset. I cannot touch it or arrive at that place I can see, yet I know the brilliance of this peculiar color must be a glimpse of God’s great Glory land, the place we will enter one day.
2. At Lake Junaluska on February 2, a large flock of robins descend on the snowy ground, and I know God is revealing to me His presence.
3. I am in the Assisted Living with my mom who has mid to late stage Alzheimer’s. She does not remember enough at this point to take a drink on her own, yet sitting in her wheelchair, she suddenly bows her head, closes her eyes, and prays the Lord’s Prayer, hardly missing a word.
4. Many years ago, in my younger days, but still in my heart, it was late in an August evening. Our family, farmers in East Tennessee, raised tobacco at that time for part of our living. One evening near dusk, we were pulling the top blooms out of the tobacco, when at once hummingbirds flew in; there must have been 50 or more at once sipping from the pale pink to white blooms. Never have I seen such a thing since or before that time.
5. John 13:12-16:
12When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? 13 You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. 14If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. 16Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.
