Mealtime Matters – 8

“As best as you can remember, what has been the most exciting moment in your life to this point?

Food for Family Thought:  Your child will go through many challenging moments in life.  You won’t be there for all of them – but God will.  Remind your child of Jesus’ words to his disciples: ‘Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of time.’”

I have been fortunate to witness some wonderful events in my life, but one really stands out. Having my entire little family with me as we witnessed my daughter graduate law school, with honors was a top moment for me.

Her usually dignified self fist-pumped the air as she ascended the stage to be “hooded” and accept her diploma. My husband, sister, mom and dad and I ignored my daughter’s instruction to behave and jumped from our seats, stomping, clapping and whistling as loud as we could. She did it!

Marg,

It sounds like it was, indeed, an exceptional moment. I’m glad you were there to witness it and now that you can savor the moment in your memory.

1. I knelt down next to Ruth and she said “Yes”.
2. My daughter Robyn asked me, “Will you adopt me?”
3. I had just heard that I had ALS. God reached out to me and gently pulled me back into His/Her world.

Maura,

I understand the final two, but I’m not sure that my ability to perceive the Holy Spirit at work could endure prolonged rain on Boston Common…

I know I almost lost a shoe in the mud while carrying by then baby brother thru the crowd after communion. I guess it was a “you had to be there experience for me.” There was something about being among all those people of faith who weren’t belly aching about the rain but were so filled with joy and excitement.
P.S. Miraculously not a single person I knew caught a cold in all that rain
