Our “cousins” at Jesuit Media Initiatives in London have a wonderful site, www.pray-as-you-go.org which allows you to download a daily prayer experience to your iPod or other MP3 player.
The music is well-chosen and the reflections tend to be in those rather plummy British accents that most Americans swoon over!
I also want to recommend the “Preparing to pray” feature on the homepage. There you will find a “breathing exercise” [4'00"] and a “body exercise” [4'00"] that are excellent. The same homepage also has “at the end of the day,” an 8-minute audio version of the Examen.

Thanks, Paul, for reminding me of this site. I had visited it awhile ago by recomendation of someone at my parish. I enjoyed praying there this a.m. and reviewed the breathing exercises and examen as well.
I am a little lame on the downloading thru itunes, etc. (I usuall enlist my 14 year old nephew’s assistance!) I might give it a try this weekend and see how I do on my own. The instruction on the site was clear enough, even for a golden oldie like me.

The reminder to visit this site couldn’t have come at a better time for me. Thank you for the peaceful break in the day.
The periods music alone focused my attention on beauty, thus quietly uniting my soul with God. It was a wonderful ten minutes of prayer.
This is a favorite site — and this ad is a total favorite. It’s not the plummy accents that attract me, I have to say, it’s hearing the Gospel for the day read on occasion by a woman. It’s funny how rarely I hear any passage from those four books read, and in particular, read for prayer, by a woman.
Another good resource there is the introduction to Ignatian meditation: five episodes are linked here
Marg,
I have a Ph.D. in Communications and I wish I had a 14 year-old nephew to hand to help me with downloads and other challenges!
Paul
Denise,
Glad the reminder about “Pray-as-you-go” caught you at the right moment. We all need moments during the day when we can focus on the important stuff.
Paul
Eric,
Glad you enjoyed it.
Paul
Michelle,
One of my British Jesuit friends has already emailed me about the “plummy accent” comment. Sheesh, you can’t get away with anything around here!
Thank you for the tip about the intros to Ignatian Meditation. I shall doubtless “steal” it from you both for http://www.IgnatianSpirituality.com and may well blog about it as well.
Paul
