Another card from Bret Nicholaus and Tom McGrath’s “The Meal Box”:
“If you could literally jump into the pages of any book you’ve ever read and experience the action along with the characters, which book would you choose?”
Food for Family Thought: Think about a fictional character (from a book, comic book, movie or TV program) that you admired when you were the age your child is now. Tell your child about the character and the story, sharing what you most enjoyed and appreciated about them and what lessons you learned.”

Thanks for posting, Paul. Wonderful idea for sharing reading experiences with children. And when you do this, you may find that your child offers you something he or she has enjoyed reading, too. Great stuff!

I ordered “The Meal Box” earlier this summer and my girls enjoy it very much. They sometimes want to do three or four cards a night! It is a wonderful way to share, and to talk about our hopes and dreams.

Regina,
Thanks for sharing your experience with me. And, yes, although I am not a parent I am well aware that children can surprise us with what they share!

Kim,
I am so glad that your girls enjoy the “Mealtime Matters” cards and want to do more. I shall pass on your encouraging words to Bret & Tom — perhaps they’ll get to work on another set of cards.
