We all remember exactly where we were when we first heard the news of the attacks on 9/11. Each year, the anniversary leaves me feeling unsettled and unsure of what to say and do. I am glad, therefore, that this year we’re being encouraged to make this a National Day of Service and Remembrance.
Let’s do something positive to pay tribute to all those who lost their lives on this day.

I still struggle with anger, and I ashamed to admit, hatred for the people responsible for this vicious act of violence. But Jesus says we are to forgive and we are to love our enemies, as He did. Let us all pray for each other for the gift of love of enemies and forgiveness.

I live in a suburb of NY. I have spent most of this day with that feeling of being on the verge of tears. No one can ever imagine what the families of those who lost their lives on 9-11 felt then and how they feel today. It is beyond my knowing. What happened that day left a mark on me that I don’t understand and I did not suffer the loss of family member or friend. How can you explain the unexplainable? How can you wrap your mind around a tragedy so great?
So today I send up the thoughts that come to me as prayers for all who suffer still; that is my little service to those who passed on that day.
