This posting brings such mixed feelings. I tend to see war, corporate embezzlers, terrorism, oppressive rulers, terrible poverty, illness, crime, nuclear weapons, etc. I want to be like Louis Armstrong. I am sure that throughout his life he experienced bigotry and exclusion. I am sure he was as aware as I of the terrible things I have listed. And yet he sings "What a Wonderful World" with his heart as well as his voice. The words of the song remind us how beautiful this world can be. How many times have I prayed in thanksgiving for so much that is good in this world, and yet when I think of this world, all those terrible things come to mind first. There is no use in denying the things that are wrong with this world, but I pray that I be a man of sufficient faith that I also see all the wonderful gifts and people God has given this world, the work of God's hands.
