People For Others celebrates its first birthday today. When I started out I had no idea if anyone would want to read my musings and wonderments, but it has turned out to be a delightful experience — at least for me.
Sometimes I get praised, occasionally I get scolded, but mostly I get to be inspired and consoled by you. I have been able to connect with great and generous people and I love it when — in the comments – you start to dialogue with each other. Thank you for this past year… and now onwards into our second year.
If you haven’t seen my turgid first day “Video Welcome” from 11/3/08 , you can check it out here.

Good Morning Paul,
It was lovely to see your welcome video. I watched the piece on Examen too. Helpful to me, as I have been reading as much as I can about it.
I came to this blog through a twisty path that started at my parish, a wonderful Jesuit apostolate. I get inspired there on a regular basis. People for Others helps me to find that inspiration on a daily basis. My life has been changed by the search for God in daily living. It took a turn away from my traditional, sometimes strict and a little scary, Catholic upbringing to see things in a different way. As an older adult, it is the change that I needed. A little like the ruby slippers, I had the power all along.
Congratulations on a job well done. Hope for more wonderful blogs to come. Happy Birthday People for Others. Thank you Paul.
M.

Wow! Has it really been a year? It’s amazing to me that I’ve been reading this blog every day for a year. It is a true blessing to my life. I start my day at the parish office by reading this and the “3-minute retreat”. Sometimes the posts make me laugh, other times they make me cry. All the time they remind me to seek God’s presence in all things, even when God seems elusive to me.
Thank you, Paul, and thank you to the community of readers who so generously share your thoughts. Here’s to another good year!

Paul,
I haven’t been a part of this for a year, so I am glad to know of the anniversary. I enjoyed the chance to see you on video. On almost every morning People For Others is the first thing I do after my family gets me out of bed. I wheel into my office eager to find what is waiting for me each day. I appreciate your daily contributions and enjoy very much exchanges with the other participants. I always appreciate your comments on our comments. People For Others has helped me come closer to God and has expanded my vision of where I am to find God. One place I am sure to find God is in your daily postings and in the responses of the dear people of faith who participate. My time left here on God’s beautiful earth is limited, and I hope that People For Others will be a part of each day I have left.

Eric,
Your faith in me helps me have faith in my life and ministry. You have always been incredibly supportive and helpful to me. I am so glad that you have come into my life through this blog.
You are a strong witness for me and you are in my “fierce” prayers every day.

Your blog is still my home page. That is the highest compliment I can give. When are you coming to speak at Canisius College? You know, they have a new president and he’ll need a solid VP to dump everything on that he doesn’t want to do. I think you should apply. I’ll call the provincial and plant the seed.

Fr. Paul,
CONGRATULTIONS on a refreshing way to `find God’ in the world. Your blog is mighty down to earth and effective. It helps me grow and glow. More `Spirit’ power to you and your staff. Thank you for being a most effective instrument of God’s thoughts and ways.

Congratulations, Paul! It’s so hard to do a consistently good blog but you are. I have found more interesting books, poems and video clips on your website. Keep up the good work.

Dear Paul.
Happy Anniversary… I hope you will have many more to come, you do a wonderful job here.
This blog and the “3-minute” retreat are the first things to be read when I switch on the computer… you contribute a lot to make my day a good day and I want to thank you for that.
I too have found interesting books, poems and links to other interesting stuff through this blog, so you better make it to the next anniversary and the next……..
Thanks for the time you give. God bless you.
Toolah.

Dan,
If this blog is “still” your homepage, you are in need of serious help!
Thanks for kind words,

Ron,
We’re all in this together – we all need help to start our days on the right foot. Sometimes my right foot leads, other times it’s somebody else’s turn. Together we get by.

Maureen,
I greatly appreciate your encouraging words. I don’t think I’d claim “consistency” in this blog. There are some mornings I sit in front of the keyboard and I get desperate for ideas… other mornings go better. Just like the rest of my life!

Toolah,
Thank you. As for keeping things going, I take it day by day. If I think about things too much into the future I get flustered and overwhelmed!
