And stop always waiting for better tomorrows, “or your heart will never learn to love the present.”

It is funny how those “golden yesterdays” were rarely as wonderful as we picture them in memory. I remember a friend’s mother who used to say of the teenage years never let adults tell you “those were the best years of my life” because they rarely are. I believe her point was that sometimes teens (and even adults too) get so overwhelmed in a negative moment that we don’t look forward to the future with hope.

Michelle, Eric & Maura,
Thanks for your comments.
Eric, you are right about adding the bit about tomorrows.
Maura, I can remember going through experiences where I’ve sworn to myself,
“I will never allow myself to forget how miserable this is.” Guess what? For the most part, I have forgotten.
