At a recent “Mission & Identity” conference, I was given a copy of Marquette University’s fine prayer book for its students: Finding God in All Things, edited by Doug Leonhardt, S.J. With Doug’s kind permission, I am going to share some of the prayers from it over the next couple of weeks.
You are the way, the truth, the life
Without the way there is no going
Without the truth there is no knowing
Without the life there is no growing
Show us the way, that we may go
Teach us the truth, that we may know
Grant us the life, that we may grow
Eternally.
(Theodore “Ted” Tracy, S.J.)

Hi Father Paul & Company,
I’ve been away for a few days and coming back to your site makes me realize what a positive contribution I get from all you do and say. Your acts, words and recent communications make living my life easier. Life IS going well for me. Thank you. Weather in Edmonton is unusually warm here.
“The Way, Truth and Life,” prayer and such other items here help keep my feet on the ground and my mind clearer than such would be without your efforts to reach out to others.
I too have a payer I would like to share, from another Ignation site. The site offers the opportunity to email their daily meditations to “a friend” so I think it is okay to reproduce it here.

Consider the face of good and evil. Now, ask God to provide an intimate understanding of the way the Mind of Christ works. Furthermore, ask for an understanding of how those who have chosen only this way make decisions and value things.

My prayer for you and company, today, as it is each and every day, is that you all be carried through this day on the wings of The Holy Spirit, a song and a prayer,

Thank you, Paul and Ron, for the prayers.

Ron,
Good to have you back. Thanks for suggesting the site – I hadn’t come across it. I’m a little puzzled by the “adapted from the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius” because it has been so thoroughly adapted that I can’t find the original. Doesn’t mean it isn’t there, only that I am unable to figure it out.

Eric,
Not just prayers, but fierce prayers.

Hi Father Paul & Eric,
“Fierce prayers,” made me smile Eric — good description.
Father Paul, here is the email address for the contact at http://www.SilentInsight.com where I got the prayer above adapted from the Ignation exercises: brian@silentinsight.com . Maybe Brian can follow up with you to find the original.
Thank you both,
Ron
