My favorite composer is J.S. Bach. It is the only music I could listen to endlessly, without ever getting bored or distracted. In this month of Mary, let’s listen to the opening minutes of Bach’s Magnificat. One of the comments below this video quotes someone’s Facebook profile which states, “I ignore God unless I happen to be singing Bach.” I can’t sing more than two notes in tune, but simply by listening to this sublime music I fall more deeply in love with God. Enjoy.

Heavenly! I thank God for the talented people who can play and sing Bach’s music. As for favorites, I believe God declared, “I will show the world my beauty,” when God created Giacomo Puccini.
Oh, so beautiful! Thanks, Paul.
Paul, I share your deep love for Bach. And I love to hear others’ appreciation of him, too. One of my very favorite memories is my daughter (age 14) playing a Bach piece on the piano for the first time and noticing how he brought a particular theme back in an unexpected (but perfect!) way. “Oh,” she sighed, her fingers still at the keys, “what a clever fellow you are!”
Eric, I agree about God and Puccini. And when God heard “Nessun dorma,” he said, “see? what’d I tell you?”
Let me suggest “the divine Mozart.” One of my favorites: Violin Concert 5, Second Movement.
Jim, I agree. When I wrote my comment I kept thinking how could I not say something about Mozart.
Eric,
I’m back on the radar again after a considerable absence. Today is the first day in I don’t know how long where I have the time and the space to reply to comments.
Glad that you liked the Bach. I, too, like Puccini and love to blast opera in the car during long drives.
Paul
Regina,
What joy it must be to have a daughter (with insight to boot) who can play Bach on the piano.
Paul
Jim,
I do love Mozart, but J.S. is my main man.
