As we come to the end of the Year For Priests (on June 19th), it has been suggested me by a few of our “bright young things” that I should mark the occasion in some significant way and, in fact, that I offer you the opportunity to ask me any question you may have about priesthood.
One of our crew, for instance, wants to know, “Since smoking is harmful to the body, why do some priests smoke?” [Because they struggle with addiction like millions of others…] Another asks if I find it difficult to give marital advice even though I’ve never been married. [My instant reaction to that one was, “Heck, if I limited my advice to things I knew about, you’d never hear from me again.”]
If you want to submit a question, put it in as a comment or email it to me at firstname.lastname@example.org by Tuesday, June 8th. I’ll put the most intriguing questions in a poll next Wednesday and ask you to pick your favorites. Starting on Monday, June 14th I will spend a week answering five of the questions. [May the Good Lord have mercy on my soul… and on yours.]
