Monday Music Moment

by Paul on June 11, 2012

Many of you loved The Piano Guys the last time. Because it’s Monday morning, here’s another dose to help us put some zip in our steps.

This one is a combination of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” and “Simple Gifts.”

Enjoy!

Muchos gracias. I needed something uplifting this morning. I suspect a week or trial and tribulation looms.

Have a good week one and all.

Thanks for all the good wishes. I saw the words of wisdom later and it said; “if you are irritated by every rub, how will your mirror ever be polished – Rumi”

I suspect my mirror is particularly smudged :-)

Simon,

I echo the good wishes of all the others. Remember that how you choose to define an experience will help to shape it. What about thinking of it as a week of great challenges?

Or am I being too Pollyanna-ish?

That was a great way to start a Monday morning. If I’m not mistaken, I heard “Lord of the Dance” which is one of my favourites.

Have a fantastic week, everyone.

Denise J June 11, 2012 at 1:01 pm

You’re not mistaken, Lynda. The melody for “Lord of the Dance” is based on the Shaker song “Simple Gifts.” Several other composed have “borrowed” that same lovely tune, including Copland for a ballet and John Williams for a presidential inauguration. It is one of my favorites, too.

One of my very favorite hymns! Ironically, I watched this upon returning from my daughter’s strings concert (2nd and 3rd graders) and as I was watching the one playing strings play his various instruments, it occurred to me that he started at that level too! Pretty cool…you just have to start and stick with it!

Just lovely!

Hello, Paul and all, am just preparing my morning meditation on the Nativity of John the Baptist and was poking around looking for inspiration and found this.. My two cats are here. One being tortured by birds at the window and the sick one in my lap who has walked up the stairs for the first time in weeks, all silenced and awed by the music and the Spirit this Sunday am….thank God and thank you
