Instead of a Wisdom Story this Friday, I thought I’d spend a moment or two giving thanks for the gift of Wisdom.
The Scriptures make much of wisdom and we all know the story of King Solomon desiring wisdom more than any other gift.
The younger me thought this all fine and dandy, but looked at it from afar as something exotic and unrelated to my own life.
I am not for one instant going to claim being wise, but I have learned a lot from, and about, wise people and the more I discover about them, the more I want to be like them.
My temperament is not suited to wisdom – I’m emotional, somewhat impulsive and way too self-centered ever to be truly wise. That having been said, I’m a lot less stupid than I was, say, thirty years ago and so I am grateful for whatever wisdom I have picked up along the way.
