Sometimes we pray for things and our prayers are answered. We feel connected to God and the knowledge that God really listens to the desires of our hearts. Other times we pray and we pray and nothing happens, or so it seems. We don’t understand why our entreaties to the Almighty go unanswered. We can feel alone and unheard.
But what happens when our prayers are answered, only they aren’t answered for us, but for someone else? How do we handle it when somebody else gets our dream?
The One who hears all our prayers, all our petitions, all our wishes, and all our fears answers with something for which we may not have had the wisdom to ask. God gives us grace. Grace gives us a choice to not respond in anger or jealousy. Grace gives us the opportunity to love through our hurt and to be genuinely happy for the other who received exactly what we asked for.
Grace leads us to see that what we received may not be what we wanted, but is exactly what we needed. Grace oversees the heart’s transformation from the pain of disappointment into the blessing of gratitude.
