How cool is this? Several years ago, as a public art project, Chicago had painted cow statues all over the city. Now, to benefit firefighters, we are to have 5′ tall decorated fire hydrants around town.
One of my designer colleagues suggested that Loyola Press take part and here is the result. It will be placed on the sidewalk right downtown near the Water Tower on Michigan Ave.
Apparently, painting Ignatius on the hydrant didn’t take very long, but the clouds and the lettering took considerable effort.
The “joke” here is, obviously, that St. Ignatius is famous for the saying “Go forth and set the world on fire” and yet here he is on a hydrant!
