Today, it seems that I have only 2 photographs: this one of our “Last Supper” at a Roman restaurant and another of an old Fiat 500 next to a new Fiat 500. Of the two, I judged that you’d like this one the best!
There was a Papal Audience this morning in St. Peter’s Square but, since we didn’t have tickets, the group took the opportunity to visit the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel while (most of ) the crowd was elsewhere.
In the afternoon, we went to the Scavi, the excavations under the Vatican, where the remains of St. Peter are said to have been buried. It was unseasonably warm in Rome and, as a result, several of our group struggled with the heat and 95% humidity in the Scavi. Still, I think it was more than worthwhile.
After a final meal together, some of us older and wiser folks returned to the hotel. Others have gone to sample the delights of the nightlife. Our wake-up call, however, is scheduled for – gulp – 3:45a.m.
See you on the other side…
