Danielle, who has autism, is non-verbal and couldn’t demonstrate her readiness to receive her First Eucharist. Brendan, for his Eagle Scout project, decided to help her and so he put together a homemade kit for her to help her express herself. One of my colleagues heard about this at a wedding reception and that’s how this great idea came to us.
Loyola Press now has Special Needs kits for First Eucharist, Reconciliation and Confirmation in English and Spanish.
We’re getting letters and e-mails from parents who are overjoyed that their children are able to participate fully in the life of the Church.
These resources, almost certainly, will never produce enough revenue to cover their cost, but I am immensely proud that, as a mission-driven company, we are able to reach out to help everyone belong.
Danielle will soon be ready to use the Confirmation kit…
