Sorry I haven’t posted from the pilgrimage in a day or two.
We had a wonderful visit to Loyola where I met Jesuits from Romania, Serbia, India, Africa and, of course, Spain. My language skills were tested to the max, but I understood enough that all of them had met and remembered fondly other Irish Jesuits!
We then took the road to Xavier (pictured) where we had a brief but excellent stop and then headed for Montserrat. On the road, the bus lurched a little while one of my companions was standing and her knee was injured. Talk about imitating St. Ignatius…
This accident allowed me to see a Spanish hospital in operation. My colleague was seen promptly, received excellent care, got crutches and was presented with a bill for less than $300. Meanwhile, we had spent most of the time trying (and failing) to get answers from our American insurance company.
Yesterday and today, we slowed down and let Montserrat weave its magic upon us.
