Continued from Part 7 …

The long and winding road has taken me here to Chicago and will probably take me somewhere else one day. But I am happy to be in the Midwest and to be working at a company that is trying to honor and uphold people’s desires for a closer friendship with God.

I love almost everything about Chicago – the winter winds off the lake can be a little bracing, to be sure, but they are a small price to pay for the opportunity to live in a world-class city in the middle of the prairies. The pizza really is as good as you imagine it, people are down-to-earth and friendly and the architecture is often stunning. There have been days when, as I drive home from work, the skyline opens up in front of me and my heart simply sings with joy that I, a wee boy from Belfast, gets to live in this kind of town …
