This is another of Nikolaas Sintobin’s “Jesuit Jokes.” I’d never come across it before.
A Jesuit took part in a conference about the Vow of Obedience. A participant asked, “Your Order attaches great importance to Obedience. What do you do to make sure the Jesuits remain faithful to that vow?”
He replied, “It’s actually very simple. Our Superiors first ask us what we would like to do and then they give us that as our mission. This is how we never have a problem with Obedience.”
Another participant asked the Jesuit, “But don’t you sometimes have colleagues who don’t know what they want to do? What do you do with them?”
The Jesuit replied, “No problem. We make them our Superiors!”
